Weekly Twinkles Task Force BlueJeans Meeting #183

Hi @DarkEnergyScienceCollaboration/twinkles

Hope you are enjoying the relative calm after the DESC meeting/Run 1 storm! :-) How about we meet up next week, to make a post Run 1 plan and get moving again? I think we should then meet up regularly as a Task Force: we were kind of doing that anyway, under the guise of a "reading group" #54 or to "talk about the workflow," so it should be easy to find time to get together. Having said that, it does need to be the same time slot :-)

So: please fill out this doodle poll, for a weekly Twinkles Task Force Meeting! Note that this is different from the CI and SSim working group meetings: we should be able to report to them at a moment's notice, but we have plenty to talk about just getting Twinkles going properly - so when choosing a time, we'll prioritize based on the availability of the active Twinklers (you know who you are, you little stars). Thanks! :-)

PS. I just learned that when referring to an issue like #54, if you can't remember the issue number you can just start typing eg '#readi' and GitHub autocompletes for you! Pretty nifty.

Hi all! As you know, I am in Oxford this week, helping the LOC get ready for next week's meeting - so I will not be able to join this week. We do need to talk about our remaining homework for next week, though: are our CI2 session slides in order? What needs to be done with them? Are our science session (SL and SN) talks scoped and preparable? Are we ready for our "Open House" - which will be marked by us repeatedly inviting the collaboration to come to the Twinkles GitHub repo and explore, and join us on Friday for Twinkles hacking? Live notes here, with half-baked agenda - please do jump on and make the meeting work for you! I'll catch up with the notes later tonight. Have fun!

Looks like you had a very short meeting! I added to the notes remotely, based on what I know: @jbkalmbach is working on an SL science session contribution, and I still need to get our public face looking better (link to the website and its weekly summaries, better issue introduction). Ill work on that tomorrow. I'll merge our installation instructions, despite residual concerns... Anything else we should do, @heather999 ?

A bit late in responding @drphilmarshall .. but I'm wondering if we can merge the two pull requests: #272 (updates the gh-pages branch for weekly summaries) and #277 (offers some doc on creating weekly summaries)? It may not be perfect, but I think it's a good step forward.

And did you merge the installation instructions, I think that was #275? Though I agree, there are remaining concerns that need to be ironed out.

Yes, I did edit index.html directly to add "Weekly Summaries" under Latest News: http://darkenergysciencecollaboration.github.io/Twinkles/ Maybe we could put that link somewhere more prominent on the front page, if it isn't standing out enough.

My sincere apologies, people - I clean forgot about this week's meeting. I am unable to make it, but if it's useful for you to jump in the usual BJ room linked from the notes, please do make a new section from the template and make some notes on your discussion. You might like to chat about plans for the Hack Week, as well as any NERSC updates or thoughts about Run 3 (the main Twinkles 1 data generation run, due to be executed "at the end of the summer / early fall", and the dataset that we will be writing an AJ paper about). Have fun!

@drphilmarshall My apologies, but my research group meeting was scheduled during this Thu 12pm PT time slot starting this fall term. So (a) I won't be able to make this time (and haven't for the last few weeks); (b) perhaps something that works for @cdfassnacht is now possible.

There's been some good discussion of PhoSim, SL inputs, and pipeline review this week: let's meet tomorrow at 12 noon to finalize our plan for the pipeline review, which will finish off milestone 10, the Run 3 preparation sprint. Here's our meeting agenda, please edit as you see fit as usual.

HI all,

Well, the pipeline review train seems to have been delayed a bit ("Welcome to British Rail") so let's meet up tomorrow at noon to see if we can get it moving again. Agenda with links to all relevant Epics is here, please add whatever notes and additional links you like to help the discussion go well.

Before the meeting, it would be great if we could close as many issues as we possibly can in the following three epics, so that we can have a clear view of what we are being held up by. Thanks!

Hi all - good to talk to you just now. I tried to finish the notes as best I could, so that @TomGlanzman and @tony-johnson can catch up. Here they are! Thanks @jchiang87 for setting up and starting off the meeting :-) @rbiswas4 when you have issued the new "VisitDownSelector" work, can you please provide hyperlinks to those issues in the notes? @heather999 - when Rahul replies that he has done this, we should be able to weekly-ify these notes. Run 3 production seems to have hit some snags: please post these to the first section (with links to the relevant issues) so that we can resolve them. Well, after the fact, here are this week's meeting notes, ready for weeklification, @heather999 ! @SimonKrughoff @jchiang87 I noted action items for you both, that need issuing - and then we all said we'd think about a) what we want to present/discuss at the DESC Meeting Twinkles session in order to get the best out of it and b) what we want to hack/sprint on on the Friday. We'll continue that on Slack in the #twinkles channel!

Hi all! We are meeting at our new time this week, Wednesday 0900 PST! Here's a starter agenda, in our live notes file. Mainly I guess that we should chat about the image differencing ( @SimonKrughoff @tony-johnson ) and the error model analysis ( @jbkalmbach @rbiswas4 ), but also spend some time looking at the DESC meeting schedule and chatting about possible sprints.

Over breakfast, you might add any other items you want to discuss - and we'll spend more time adding items during the check in, to cope with the new early time. Looking fwd to catching up!

Hi all! Happy February :-) I made us a live notes agenda for this morning's meeting - please take a look and add notes as usual.

Great if you can think about what's missing from my proposed two slides sets for the meeting, and also which parts you'll be able to prepare. Because some of the session audience will be from outside the Task Force, there'll be a certain amount of pulling together results/plots that we have already seen in our issue threads, but it'll be good to digest them further in the presence of others. I'm thinking that the slides you make will double as a plan for the Notes we will write, too - it seems hard to get them started, so its worth trying a slide-focused approach! :-)

PS. @jbkalmbach @rbiswas4 I wasn't sure what to put for a science analysis discussion, great if you can add whatever you need to give us an update. @SimonKrughoff @tony-johnson a few lines of update on how the image differencing is going would be great, thanks!
