Setting this up for later - I think we eventually want documentation in the master branch and deployable files in a different branch.

@drphilmarshall , following our offline exchange, I suggest we resurrect the original templates here as example.* or similar, including the latex. I'm not convinced that the actual "how to use start_paper" documentation needs to be in latex. There might be little enough of it that it can fit easily in the README.

@drphilmarshall , have a look at the expanded README and see if anything critical (other than the obviously to-be-filled-in) is missing.
