This is very interesting, thanks @moniez ! @knutago @dnidever did you discuss this with the other LMC/SMC afficionados today?

moniez commented 9 years ago

Hi Phil,

unfortunately, I am now in Germany, with a very poor web connection… So I can’t participate to the discussions. But I am sure that I can find synergies and common interest with other microlensers and stellar variability specialists. Yours. Marc

@moniez @knutago Hi! What's the plan for getting this science case into the White Paper? Will you be writing a section, including a (suggested) MAF metric analysis, Marc? Where will it fit best, Knut? Thanks!

moniez commented 8 years ago

I Phil,

I will provide within the next few days a basic document for comments. Yours. Marc

Hi Marc and Phil,

I think this would fit in well with the section on the high cadence study of variability. The need is for a range of timescales, including very short ones like the one you propose. Let's fold it in with the variability section of the MC chapter.

Hi,

as promised last week, I wrote the following text to promote the moving-mode in view of searching for interstellar scintillation. I wait for your suggestions/comments on the best way to include it in the white paper. Yours. Marc

Great, thanks Marc! If your text can be inserted easily as a section, please do paste it into a copy of the template at https://github.com/LSSTScienceCollaborations/ObservingStrategy/blob/master/whitepaper/section-template.tex and add/commit/push it to your fork. Knut can then edit it in appropriately. If you are uncomfortable doing this, feel free to simply paste it into a reply to this message and Knut can deal with that, too :-)

Hi Marc,

We're working on the Magellanic Clouds section right now, can you upload or send by email your text?

Knut

moniez commented 8 years ago

Hi Knut,

please find the LaTeX ingredients (one .tex file plus 4 pdf figures). I intended to insert them as a section according to the latest Phil’s mail, but if you think this is more efficient, I can interact later for finalization. I think that the synergies sub-section probably deserves to be developed. Yours. Marc

PS: remember the time difference between Paris ans USA, to account for probable delays in my answers...

Hi Knut,

can you tell me if I should do something more to adapt the .tex file I sent last week? Yours. Marc
