I want to understand the DIA part of the data release processing (DRP) pipeline, so am going to work on a set of tutorial notebooks that explore the various parts of it - so this is an "epic" issue. I'll use this top comment to maintain a list of possible notebooks to go in a "DIA" folder in the Stack Club repo. My plan is to follow the progress of DESC pipeline scientist Dominique Fouchez as he implements DIA in the DESC DC2 DRP pipeline, over in the DESC ImageProcessingPipelines repo. In principle, I should be able to follow the Cookbook there, but in practice I think I'll also be contributing to that doc as I go.
Possible Notebooks
[ ] DIA How To Generate a Template Image
[ ] DIA How To Difference A Visit Image and Detect DIASources
[ ] DIA How To Generate DIAObjects
[ ] DIA How To Do Forced Photometry on DIA Objects
[ ] DIA Pipeline Configuration and Execution
Notes
The Twinkles dataset might be the best for the DIA tutorials: the images are small, and they contain interesting time-variable objects.
I will probably only get part of the way through this project by the August PCW - a good goal might be the first two Notebooks, and a draft of the overview / pipeline tutorial (potentially based off a Project html tutorial if @jonathansick is working on one)
OK, the PR for the first notebook (not yet started!) will be #49. I'm working in the project/DIA/drphilmarshall branch, if anyone wants to follow along, or help out by further PR.
