@nonprofittechy this seems upstream
I believe I also experienced this last week.
We do need to set up email, yes. Can you ask your IT department for SMTP credentials you can use for this? I can also help you setup a service like Send grid
Hi: Our IT folks don't have anything to do with vtcourtforms.org. I have the logins for it on Go Daddy and AWS. Is that where we'd set something up? I'm afraid I don't know anything about setting up email.
We can send you up with send grid's free tier I think. Let's set up a call. Alternative is setting up AWS SES, which will cost pennies and save you creating a new account.
Having it on AWS sounds nice -- if it is as reliable as Send Grid.
I just sent in a meeting request on Calendly. Thanks!
@nonprofittechy I sent you an email about AWS denying us again. :(
@nonprofittechy Hi: So I finally got approval for Amazon SES. But they say I need to set this up and I have no idea what to do..... "You did not indicate that you have a process in place to handle bounces and complaints. It is an SES requirement to have a bounce and complaint handling process. If you do not already have one in place, please implement one immediately or review your current process to ensure it is functioning. For some examples that work directly with Amazon SNS notifications, please see our blog ( https://aws.amazon.com/blogs/ses/handling-bounces-and-complaints/ ) or Developer Guide ( https://docs.aws.amazon.com/ses/latest/DeveloperGuide/notifications-via-sns.html )."
Okay, I can look into it for you. It looks like you might just need to publish a policy and set up a way to get notified when an email bounces.
Thanks! It seems to me that SES is set to send me emails for these bounces and complaints. There will not be a high volume, so maybe that's enough for the notification part?
Hi @nonprofittechy. I did a test bounce and I do not get notified by email, but in the AWS SES console I can see the bounces and complaints. I think to keep Amazon happy I might add this to my terms of use.
Bounced emails and email complaints
Our staff regularly reviews bounced email addresses that are sent from VTCourtForms. These email addresses are added to a do-not-send list. If you'd like us to add your email address to the VTCourtForms do-not-send list, please contact us via the address below.
Two reviewers noted they did not receive an email with the forms when they put in their email address at the end. (I had one of them check their junk mail, too.) I bet we have to set up the emailing system for apps.vtcourtforms.org. Is it hard to set it up? Is now a good time to set that up?
