LX 10k test version 2_2_1059_0 #5

General info

No. 4 highlighted in bold is my biggest concern at present relating to it crashing in flight.

Improved:

  1. The new audio tone is much better, definitely an improvement.

  2. It no longer asks for QNH on startup which is helpful as saves time. I assume it is now automatically calculated?

Questions:

  1. The unit keeps switching off when not used. It shut down when I was waiting and about to take off yesterday. Has an auto power off been added and can this be adjusted/disabled?

  2. I have not had any long flights so not sure if the issue with it crashing in flight (see my crash report copied below originally sent 14 August) and the joystick buttons strangely changing functions is resolved. Is this test version supposed fix it?

  3. Randomly the vario jumped to -10 and stuck there for 30 seconds while I was on the ground. It did resolve itself.

  4. The battery voltage seems to fluctuate a lot. Mine jumps around between 12 and 12.5 volts even on different batteries. Might be worth smoothing this more, say averaging over a minute otherwise the battery indicator is constantly changing between full and half charged.

  5. Could I suggest on the info screen you rename the BATTERY and VOLTAGE? it is not clear at a glance what these relate to. I would suggest calling them EXTERNAL and INTERNAL. It already says V after the number e.g. 12.0 V so it's clear that it is volts.

On the voltage fluctuations, I am using standard old style (not LiPo) fully charged batteries, and am running a KRT2 radio, red box flarm, flarm display powered through the LX10k, analog vario with the 10k, and a turn & slip but was switched off.

I had not noticed this fluctuation before the test version of the software, but it's possible I just was not looking, I cannot be sure. I'll bring my multimeter next time to check if it's a real fluctuation, but will be surprised if it is indeed fluctuating by 0.5v as the display reports.
