The primary, with an e-screen module connected, could enable a significant feature landscape. To start, just basics such as

battery status
connectivity status
layout name active
active layer
sleep-state (e.g. ideally the kb never needs to be off, just in deep-sleep)
data for secure bluetooth connection (e.g. display a one-time code to setup device-trust)
modifier states
SECURITY: No display of button-states (password leakage)

more advanced features could include:

menus
tui-like interface
macro construction/editing/info interface (SECURITY ISSUE)
mouse/trackball/other sensitivity info/control
profiles (with ability to hot-swap)
layout (with ability to hot-swap)
rgb control
