Use legacy license keys with NetLicensing

Question

Can we keep the existing license key of our product and add that as the key in the NetLicensing portal to be validated?

You can use existing license key numbers with NetLicensing by migrating (created) all needed assets (Customers and Licenses) to NetLicensing and enabling customer validation API.

Please follow these steps to migrate existing licenses:

• integrate NetLicensing validate() RESTful API in your product
• create a custom one-time script (shell, python or any other stack) to fetch licensing information from the legacy systems and push this info in NetLicensing; LicenseeService.create() and LicenseService.create() can be used here
  • Note: Licensee.number is limited to 1000 characters (Latin alpha-numeric)
• test new integration and deliver/update new products to the customers
