Update to 2.2 #6

Semtech has released a 2.2 version which has significant changes througout the code, as pointed out by @ricaun in #5.

They also clearly state that this is the final release that will be done by Semtech.

I'll try merging this into this repo, though I expect quite some conflicts...

To prevent confusion about versions, I've tagged the current master as 2.2.1, to indicate it has additional changes on top of Semtech's 2.2 version.

@ricaun, @lyusupov, if you already pulled in the master branch since I pushed it yesterday, you would do best to pull again now, since the 2.2 merge and subsequent whitespace cleanup I did has a lot of changes that will cause conflicts if you need to merge them with your own changes (if any) later.
