As per the description. A lot of users have requested a Google Chrome release.

I propose the Decorator Design pattern for this implementation.

This will allow us to easily:

Create a set of core functionality that is cross-browser compatible;
Define a set of core interfaces that various browser implementations must adhere to. This includes the GUI, Preferences and Initialising layers.
Create, in isolation, different browser implementations that can be maintained separately to the core

The following Chrome API's will be used:

The following changes are required to the Firefox implementation:

Main bootstrap code needs to be initialised via a "content script" and through events, rather than directly from the extension (https://developer.mozilla.org/en/Code_snippets/Interaction_between_privileged_and_non-privileged_pages)
Some plugins that are talking to the browser DOM directly, will need to be refactored to work as "content scripts" (e.g. like drag and drop does currently)

The following changes are required to the current plugins:

Drag and Drop (bulk file upload) currently uses the local_file_table variable from Matrix. Due to the 'isolated world' restriction this implementation will need to be changed to something more native.
Image references within CSS files will not work. They will need to be programatically inserted into the page.
