Shouldn't the linux version work with relatively little effort?

If you manage to install PIL and WxPython library it should work if you 
checkout the
code from the SVN (Vladymir vyskocil made few changes to make it work).
A binary should come "soon" (I'm myself have a MacBook now, need time to tinker 
with
it)
