Ilona should be on there too and ECCC. We should also connect with NatureServe folks at some point/ at least look into what sort of license the ccvi spreadsheet is distributed under.

Added Ilona and ECCC but could use more detail on license still and there is probably an ECCC log we should use. Maybe all that should go on an introduction page?

From Bruce's email: "I ask that you continue to call it the “NatureServe CCVI” as you have in the prototype for which you shared images, together with the version number that you are building from. Also, I ask that if you have some sort of an “About” page for the app, that you provide a link to the Guidelines document and list the two main publications for the CCVI:

Young, B. E., K. R. Hall, E. Byers, K. Gravuer, G. Hammerson, A. Redder, and K. Szabo. 2012. Rapid assessment of plant and animal vulnerability to climate change. Pages 129-150 in Wildlife Conservation in a Changing Climate, edited by J. Brodie, E. Post, and D. Doak. University of Chicago Press, Chicago, IL. Young, B. E., N. S. Dubois, and E. L. Rowland. 2015. Using the Climate Change Vulnerability Index to inform adaptation planning: lessons, innovations, and next steps. Wildlife Society Bulletin 39:174-181."

I did the above but this will need to be re-visited before release. ie should it have ECCC logo?

see24 commented 2 years ago

https://etcalc.hydrotools.tech/ This is a tool developed by ECCC and partners that is hosted on its own site, only in English and has no logos. Don't know if this is department approved but it was profiled in ECCC Science Café Speaker Series branch level talk so seems like it must be?

Although it is not completely clear I believe we need written permission to distribute our derivative version of the NatureServe Index

"This License grants you the right to install and use an unlimited number of copies of the NatureServe Climate Change Vulnerability Index for personal non-commercial use only. You may not sell for profit, incorporate into any commercially sold software application or distribute the NatureServe Climate Change Vulnerability Index without first obtaining written approval from NatureServe. Bruce said: "Yes, it is fine with me to make the R package and app publicly available [through GitHub]." In the below email

Hi Sarah,

Thanks for checking in. Yes, it is fine with me to make the R package and app publicly available. Do you think we should link to it from our CCVI page?

I don’t think you should put the NatureServe logo on the poster since we haven’t contributed to the work directly.

No news on the USGS proposal, but hopefully we’ll know something by the end of the month.

Best,

Bruce

Hi Bruce,

I hope you are doing well. I have a couple questions related to my poster that I am presenting at the ESA conference. 1) I think I checked in about this before but want to confirm, do you approve me making the R package and app publicly available through GitHub in advance of the conference? 2) Would it be appropriate for me to include NatureServe’s logo on the poster? I was going to name you in the Acknowledgments but wanted to check before using the logo.

Still keeping our fingers crossed for your USGS proposal!

Thanks, Sarah
