[Feature Request] Two factor authentication #5348

Feature Request

What's the feature you think Backpack should have?

Backpack should support two factor authentication out of the box, it's important for admin panel to be secured, 2fa providing that. It should be disabled by default. If enabled, the users can set up 2fa for additional security. Maybe it would be a good idea to restrict DeleteOperation to users that didn't set up 2fa for their account.

Have you already implemented a prototype solution, for your own project?

Yes, i have implemented this for backpack v5.

Do you see this as a core feature or an add-on?

Core.

Hello there! Thanks for opening your first issue on this repo!

Just a heads-up: Here at Backpack we use Github Issues only for tracking bugs. Talk about new features is also acceptable. This helps a lot in keeping our focus on improving Backpack. If you issue is not a bug/feature, please help us out by closing the issue yourself and posting in the appropriate medium (see below). If you're not sure where it fits, it's ok, a community member will probably reply to help you with that.

Please keep in mind Backpack offers no official / paid support. Whatever help you receive here, on Gitter, Slack or Stackoverflow is thanks to our awesome awesome community members, who give up some of their time to help their peers. If you guys decide to implement this, i can provide my code for reference and build from there.

Hey @susanu thanks for another suggestion. I think more people already asked for this. I like this. and agree with this. We maybe (just maybe) be able to think about launching this feature somewhere in the next coulple months (if time allows for that).

I've needed it too in the past, and I have some kind of implementation laying around too. I know there is also some package by one community user that aims to provide it too.

Does your implementation use Laravel Fortify?

Cheers

Yes, it does.

I need to implement 2-factor authentication with Backpack for Laravel. @susanu @pxpm @tabacitu , is the code for this patch available somewhere so I can use it. I have tried to implement it, but am having a few issues, and hence, it will be good to get an insight into implementing this. If the release date for this is within the next 2 weeks, I can probably wait.

@susanu Is it possible to share your implementation? Maybe I can help to improve it.
