Dark theme #421

First, let me thank you all for this great app. I heard of it some time ago and now that I'm using it again I'm seeing a lot of progress.

One think that I'm noticing is that too much white hurts my eyes, I would use it more comfortably with a dark theme. What do you think? Keep up the good work! =)

chchwy commented 8 years ago

vote up.

kashyryaku commented 8 years ago

Seconded.

This could eventually be extended to full-fledged custom theme support.

zagu commented 8 years ago

Upvote! The first thing I did after installing Laverna was looking for a dark mode.

It's a pity that still nobody has cared for it...

Upvote! This is a dealbreaker for me, if you can believe it lol.

aloisdg commented 8 years ago

Lets people customize it with our own theme. A dark theme would be a great start!

idurvesh commented 8 years ago

would be wonderful to have it

I'm with @zagu and everyone else about this specific theme and a theme section in general. This feature should be included under the "Settings" category under a sub title "Themes". I think @kashyryaku had meant this when he made his comment, but I think that custom themes should not be limited to just background color alone, but also include buttons (create, save. cancel) and other components like the favorites icon (the star) and the "note highlighter" selection when you select a note on the lefthand side .

^ The color of the gray select shown above could also be customized

The "Theme" section should feature the ability to select multiple themes (probably by way of the drop-down menu or something of the sort). Also someone had already referenced this related issue elsewhere, I'm just going to do the same here (#1).

If no one else wants to tackle it, I'll consider putting it under my todo list in the near future.

This is really an awesome program. We need a dark theme preferably white text on pure black background, thank you :-)

+1 for dark theme ; +1,000,000 for custom stylesheet :)

twardakm commented 7 years ago

Hello!

I found a partial solution. I mostly use the Laverna as a web application and recently I started to use Care your eyes add-on. Basically it makes every website dark and Laverna looks amazing with this add-on!

Unfortunately I still don't know how to make a standalone application dark :/

Themes are going to be supported in the future version.

New themes should be put under app/styles/theme-{themeName} directory. You can either extend from the default theme or create completely new one. As an example use theme-default and theme-dark. After creating a theme, add it to app/styles/themes.json.

This is the dark theme for now: screen shot 2017-10-20 at 01 18 45-fullpage screen shot 2017-10-20 at 01 18 58-fullpage screen shot 2017-10-20 at 01 19 04-fullpage screen shot 2017-10-20 at 01 19 25-fullpage

@wwebfor please remove fixed label as this issue is still present on any desktop application and any browser other than Chrome.

IamCarbonMan commented 6 years ago

Why is this setting not available in the Windows desktop version?

funilrys commented 6 years ago

Hello there, Please report to https://github.com/Laverna/laverna/issues/971#issuecomment-411423965 which explain the state of this project.

Have a nice day/night, Cheers, Nissar

pranavgaikwad commented 6 years ago

I noticed that Dark Mode is not included in the release yet. Any idea when it will be merged in master ?

daed commented 6 years ago

@pranavgaikwad The current master is probably not going to be further developed on. I've been working on starting up development on this, but I'm working off the dev branch for now. It's been implemented in the dev branch, however, there's a big that causes it to not load properly after you log out and back in again.

I'm in the middle of a large attempt at refactoring some of the more cumbersome parts of the codebase, but I'll try to spend some time fixing the theme stuff.

Squadz commented 6 years ago

I just find Laverna, and it looks amazing. Also the dark theme will be a very nice ! Any update on it ? or workaround ? regards

VaultDeveloper commented 4 years ago

No news for this feature in 2020 for desktop version ?

funilrys commented 4 years ago

Hi @VaultDeveloper @Squadz Unfortunately, this issue will never be fixed here.

Please report to #998 for the current and future state of this project.

Have a nice day/night.

Cheers, Nissar
