Maintaining the library #36

Open edi9999 opened 10 years ago

Hi LazarSoft,

you seem not to be maintaining this library anymore. I would like to help you or maybe even take the lead of the library.

What do you think of that ?

Best

UPDATE:

I've started a new project at https://github.com/edi9999/jsqrcode I've started by adding a first test. You can pull request it if you would like to add something to it.

Would be nice

edi9999 commented 10 years ago

I have emailed Lazarsoft personally to ask him again.

Victorgf87 commented 10 years ago

He doesn't mantain, nor even answer people's questions, 23 issues and not even one answer from him. Project doesn't work, test page doesn't work. What is the point about building open source if you don't help the community to use it?

edi9999 commented 10 years ago

It's a bit sad, but not a shame, sometimes you just don't have time. OS is something you choose to do, never obligated. I think I will make a fork and try to get some users.

LarsNymand commented 10 years ago

If you start a new project, please let me know where to find it :-)

miohtama commented 10 years ago

@Victorgf87 Please do not complain about something somebody made for you for free. Maybe the person has moved forward in his/her life and cannot dedicate his/her time anymore for publishing great source code for us else to use.

You can always the fork the project and start maintaining it yourself. This is how open source work.

Hey @jesstelford, want to join forces with @edi9999 on having a well-maintained JS port?

https://github.com/jesstelford/jsqrcode + https://github.com/edi9999/jsqrcode = :v:

jesstelford commented 7 years ago

Thanks @dandv. I've deprecated my fork (and the xzing package) in favour of @edi9999's fork + package - it's much more up to date than mine (which I no longer have the time or energies to maintain).

edi9999 commented 7 years ago

Just for information : yes, I'm still maintaining this fork :-)

But it would be great to have multiple maintainers !

rugk commented 7 years ago

@edi9999 Do you still maintain the lib?

edi9999 commented 7 years ago

Yes I do. I hope to release a version 1.0 soon

rugk commented 7 years ago

Awesome!

Maybe you could still urge the maintainer of this lib to add a note to the readme, so users can switch to your new lib. Just have a look at all these open and new issues in this repo. Or just create some more issues (in capital letters) here to make users aware of your fork.
