The demo at http://leaflet.github.io/Leaflet.fullscreen/ can be used to recreate this issue, switching to fullscreen works, but you can only use the ESC key to cancel it, the icon does not change, too.
There is another full screen plugin https://github.com/brunob/leaflet.fullscreen which works well.
