Title

Movement is a pillar of your game : it shouldn't suck

moving is a massive part of your game
it often feels horrible or is very tedious
you don't need to be a platformer
make it good, or reduce its importance
GW2 as an example of good movement in non-conventional genre
FFXIV's teleportation and flight which trivializes movement
joy in very basic movement tech in WoW
more mobility should come with a cost (3 AP story)
design this from the start, integrate with your other systems
standard game design applies: example of D3 and its "lol you get one movement mechanic per class"
meaningful movement requires meaningful spatial variation
