What is the rhythm of player support? #233

Closed tannerwelsh closed 8 years ago

tannerwelsh commented 8 years ago

Context

Player support "wraps" the game mechanics, so it needs to both match the game rhythm and provide any additional supporting rhythm.

This is 1/2 of a broken up issue #74

Criteria

In order for an issue to be marked as passing, the proposed solution must be aligned with our principles. Check off the principles that this solution is consistent with.

Moving to testing since this issue needs to be compatible with #211 and #222

@awolfinthewind does the proposed solution here jive with your issue #211? @simonlguild does the proposed solution here jive with your issue #222?

Summary of proposal:

I'm good with the above proposal @tannerwelsh

I am assuming the the first stage is not 10 weeks long, stages 2 through 5 are 10 week periods, then after that there will be other determining factors to go from Creator, to Practitioner. If this is the case then a "stage" is not a 10 week period. Not sure what a good definition would be. It looks like there are three main gates here.

  1. How to enter as an Aspirant
  2. How to move to become an Apprentice which puts one on a progression through 4 x 10 week periods
  3. How to move from Creator to Practitioner

Responding to @simonlguild:

For the purpose of simplicity, my proposal is to only define phases and stages within the time bounds of the 40 weeks of player support. Phase 0, Stage 0 starts on day one of a learner receiving player support with their cohort.

There is no "pre-start" stage, or "post-game" stage. For now. Stages only cover the time when support is actually offered.
