ASUS F510UA-AH51 Intel Core i5 8250

Your EFI worked better than expected and everything works but ran into 2 issues.

  1. Battery is recognized and WAS charging but now is no longer charging and just showing plugged in.
  2. The camera works but is really really grainy.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi drfuzzynuts.

Have you tested both, the latest version via zip from the landing page, or the older from the releases page?

  1. not sure. Ideas: a) update all kexts, esp. AsusSMC & VirtualSMC in case there are updates, reboot b) clear NVRAM c) update to the latest OC

BTW, does that happen with Clover, too?

  1. The camera IS really really grainy even in Windows - it is a retro-standard VGA cam which only offers a resolution of 640p = ridiculous in the current time.

I'll try the updates, thank you. And yes, it is Clover. I loaded the Big Sur 11.6.2 version., November 2021. Following the instructions was flawless, Thank you for all the hard work you put into this.

You're welcome. But I'm not sure what you mean by "Big Sur 11.6.2 version, November 2021", because even at that point in time, the repo was already at 12.0 Beta 1 for macOS Montery and below.

So you can try the always latest Clover or the latest OC via [this hot link](from https://github.com/LeeBinder/Asus-Vivobook-S510UA-Hackintosh/archive/refs/heads/main.zip), or try a previous release, then update all kexts and the bootloader.

Fingers crossed 👍
