Can't send video via WhatsApp - cm11-20140718 #743

As the title says I'm not able to send any video via WhatsApp, the app crashes. It seems to be an 'encoder' error as the log says, I'm not very expert with this.

Device Xperia Arc S - anzu Latest build cm11.0-20140718-UNOFFICIAL-LegacyXperia-anzu with latest LX kernel included in the zip.

Well, same here. I've narrowed the problem down and it seems to be crashing when sending a trimmed video. The crash seems to happen in the OMX side of things, Whatsapp panics and then force closes. Sending complete videos works fine though, same goes for videos taken with whatsapp.

Device: SE Xperia Mini Pro - Mango (SK17a) LX Build: cm11.0-20140718-UNOFFICIAL-LegacyXperia-mango Kernel: included LX CM11 kernel

here's what I think is relevant from the above log, contains most of the OMX-related entries (starts at line 4279 of complete logcat): http://pastebin.com/Ys7HTViW

Can confirm that sending a trimmed self-recorded-video crashes whatsapp. Fyi if you trim the video first and then send the trimmed video via whatsapp (without trimming a 2nd time) whatsapp still fc's.

I haven't used whatsapp for a long time. The video trimming is done through whatsapp?

myzb commented 10 years ago

Both force close (trim via galery and whatsapp). Whenever you send a video via whatsapp you get the option to trim it using the app. The following happens.

  1. Record video with camera, send via whatsapp and when prompted to trim don't do anything. -> Video is sent properly
  2. Record video with camera, send via whatsapp and when prompted to trim (by Whatsapp from within) do so. -> Whatsapp FC's when doing the video upload
  3. Record video with camera, trim it with galery and then send via whatsapp. When prompted to trim don't do so. -> Whatsapp FC's when doing the video upload

Still an issue?

whatsapp switched from libqcom.so to libvlc.so now. So be sure to retest with latest whatsapp version.

In Actuall Meaning Cm11 Roms Are Fully Modified By The Developers..Original Roms Cm11 Nightly Builds Archi Roms cm11..They Not Modified AnyThing Inside..So No Need In This Roms To Controlll Wakelogss Or battery life..

What You Have To Do?

-Uninstalll Any Appp Which Controlling Ur Wakelogs In Cm11 -If You Are Stock Rom User Then Update Ur WhatsApp -Off The Auto Update From Google Play Store -If You Are Rooted Users Then Use Whats App Plus Or Whatsmapp... -Uninstall Wakelogs Controlled App,Reboot Ur Device -Install Fly_On_ram_manager_balanced.zip Fly_On_ram_manager_balanced.zip--http://www.datafilehost.com/d/af6692d4 Go To CWM OR TWRP Recovery And Install Then You Able To Send Videos No hangs Out No Whats App Problem....

There is no problem with whatsapp or camera, just a problem with selected video format that is not supported by whatsapp. I put the camera in video mode and then went to settings/more settings and put the encoding to mp4. Then in Whatsapp I could record and send a video. Took ages to send but actually worked.
