Disable Hover Selection not working in Ubuntu 22.04 #4

As the title says. When I Alt + Tab and my mouse is over one of the apps, that app gets selected.

Is this an Ubuntu 22.04 bug or did I misunderstand the feature?

If you've enabled Disable Hover Selection, then the selected app can only be changed via keyboard and not via hovering an app icon with the mouse. You can however still click on an app icon and that app will be focused. Here is a gif as an example (the highlighted app doesn't change when I hover different app icons with my mouse but I can still focus GNOME Text Editor if I click the app icon)

output

This doesn' work for you?

warmwhisky commented 2 years ago

It doesn't work for me. I have Disable Hover Selection enabled, but it still selects the app when I hover. Hopefully you can see this in the screenshot below. Screencast from 09-28-2022 01:27:50 PM.webm Bear in mind my screen cast didn't capture the actual mouse, but that was my mouse hover over the apps

Maybe there is a conflict with another extension going on. Can you try disabling all extension (this one included) and then re-eanable just alttab-mod and see if it fixes it? That should make it clear, if it's a conflict.

Unfortunately that didn't work. I disabled all extensions including system extensions then switched on Alt Tab. Here is a screen of my extensions. Screenshot from 2022-09-28 14-04-27

Hmm, I intalled Ubuntu 22.04 in a VM (with the same extensions as you) and I can't reproduce your issue. Here is a gif showcasing the extension working as intended

Only other thing you could try:

Alas I tried uninstalling with both https://extensions.gnome.org and manually but the issue still persists. I did find though after re installing with both manual and auto that my setting had persisted so Ubuntu had not completely uninstalled it?

I have only had Ubuntu installed for a month now. Such an annoying feature when you are used to flipping between two applications and it just chooses where ever your mouse is.

Thanks for your help.

my setting had persisted

That's expected behaviour.

Tbh, then I have to give up. No idea what the issue could be...

[Edit]

Maybe try other extensions. I recall other extensions having this feature as well

warmwhisky commented 2 years ago

I couldn't find any other extension that done this.

This extension is working its just "Disable Hover Selection" isn't. I'm not sure what the other features do, but I found that "Remove Popup Delay" is working.
