2 years ago My understanding is that these can be different - a traditional roommate you are not necessarily responsible for their portion of the rent if something happens, but a joint tenancy you are both responsible for the entire rent. I've seen leases written both ways here in Boston, but that doesn't mean people understand the differnce. Helping clarify the intent here is be beneficial from a subject matter expert
Renting and joint tenancy seems like it would be confusing - i think if i was renting with a roommate, I'd pick renting and not think about joint tenancy
