Limbo textures

[Lignum]

I'm going to need some textures for limbo, since it'll have quite a distinct look. I will only put items on this list that I'm certain about, so it may grow at any time.

Overall design principles (looking for suggestions):

• Solid colours, shading done with in-game lighting, gives an artifical look, which creates the feeling of exoticness/supernaturality.

• Mainly dark grey shades in contrast with the light noise background, following the principle that dark stuff looks closer than light stuff.

• Lights should be full on white.

• The noise background should be visible everywhere, meaning that most textures should be transparent to some degree.

• [x] Corridor I'm thinking something along the lines of the hard light bridges in Portal 2, but with white edges and dark grey insides. The edges should be very bright, so that I can use the tile as a light emitter. For reference, they will appear in this context (bear in mind that the noise background isn't final, though):

• [ ] Room floor Room floors, just like corridors should look like platforms floating in space, meaning they'll have to have corner and edge variations, since there won't be any walls. Additionally, keep in mind that we'll need a tile variation for the edge tile that is connected to a corridor.

• [ ] Level border tiles At the level border, I'm thinking of having colourful lighting effects (think northern lights, or maybe colours used in impressionist art). It's supposed to look like you're stuck between dimensions, and they're peeking through the border, so maybe they should look like lightning bolts trying to emerge.

• [x] Noise background? The current one looks fine, but if it turns out to look like shit in combination with the other textures, we're gonna need a new one. Probably a lighter one so we can use darker greys for the other stuff.

I think a slight effect of chromatic aberration everywhere would be kind of cool, not just at borders

It is ridiuclosuly tricky trying to texture these floors @Lignumm . Here is one of the things i tried and its the one that turned out the best so far:

If corridors are floating in space, will it be possible to see other corridors if there isn't a wall in the way? Do rooms have walls at all?

Rooms don't have walls so yes probably
