I am experiencing the same problem and my configuration is as follows:
1. What is the technical error you are experiencing?
I can load Navi-x, and the Navi-Xtreme Portal; however, Navi-X hangs when
accessing Search, Top results from the past 24 hours / past 7 days.
2. What steps will reproduce the problem?
> Navi-X -> Navi-Xtreme Portal -> Search Navi-Xtreme
> Navi-X -> Navi-Xtreme Portal -> Top Results from the past [24 hours] [7 days]
3. What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
For search, I expect to see a list of media entries matching the search query,
and for Top Results from [24 hours / 7 days], I expect to see user playlists.
Instead I get a "please wait..." message that never goes away and can't be
cleared. A couple of times the hang would eventually (between 2-5 minutes)
cause Navi-X and XBMC to crash, but the typically the hang would last for
longer than 10 minutes, requiring me to force a reset, by pulling the power
cable.
4. What version number of Navi-X are you using?
3.7.8
5. What media center platform, version and operating system are you using?
XBMC Frodo v12.2, via nitoTV version 0.8.4 on an Apple TV 2 (iOS 4.4.4)
6. Please provide any additional information below:
The Navi-X hang occurred on my system when I was running Navi-X script 3.7.7 on
XBMC Eden 11.0, and an earlier version of NitoTV (0.8.1 I think). In
troubleshooting the Navi-X hang, I patched Navi-X, XBMC and NitoTV to the
latest releases (See Answer #5 above). The error and hang persisted through
the upgrades.

Don't uninstall xbmc or navi that's not gonna help its a problem with the
server if everyone's getti g it and its just not you what I think it is that to
many things run xbmc now so ppl want it so its overloading the servers I hope
who ever server is navi x starts charging a donation fee so he can keep it up
and expand the bandwidth or whatever

I had "Cannot open file" errors as usual, then upgraded to 3.7.8 but everything
just hung. So I reverted to 3.7.6 and all I get now it's "Cannot open file" and
nothing else. Useless.
Original comment by fabmic...@gmail.com

Well it looks like I found the right Forum to voice the exact same problem on
all of my devices. Phone, Tablet and computer. Also I even moved back to 12.1v
or XBMC because I've found it to just work smoother on my portable devices.
12.2 just seems to hang on me and NAVI-X is still doing the same things as
described above. 'Could not open file'. I installed the HUB Wizard and setup
for Android and now I'm back to the other message, Please wait.....
It's a shame that I've told all my friends about how cool this tech is, but now
they just think I'm an idiot for suggesting it to them. All I can tell them is
that it's cool when it works. Looking forward to a fix so I can get back on
with my life, ahahaha.

opening the http://navi-x.google...foo/foo/home2.plx url in the browser seems
to open without problems or delays..
Why are we always relying on the one central listing instead of distributing
this around in some small update so the central servers don't get hammered via
http requests?
Sometimes (always except for some cgi stuff) you can indeed just browse to some
entry in your favs while all of navi-x seems down, this does not help you much
when looking for new stuff (except when you have some favs on pastebin.com or
whatever external site) these type of listings are offcourse not "everlasting".
Perhaps keep the old system intact but start some mirroring service people can
update/host themselves, measure if stability/speed improves vs amount of local
mirror updates ?
Seems for me one maybe two updates an day should be sufficient.
The please wait.... (unable to go back!!?!?!?!) issue is another issue which
just makes it very annoying to even open navi-x after an while as you keep
going into an dead end street with an little sign at the end..
Please wait...
