We have to organize aerial photos from Austria

Austria high-resolution terrain textures:

I discussed with our D-World developer (Joris) about what is needed to create a D-World terrain database for Austria. He explained that both high-resolution and low-resolution textures are needed from a (licensed) source. And that most probably some work is also required to include specific infrastructure (airport, buildings, etc.) in the desired area(s).

Could you let us know what your requirements here are exactly? For example:

-What area in Austria would you like to have a high-resolution database? Keep in mind this area must be surrounded by a sizable low-resolution tile set as well. -Can you obtain the source data from a (geography/mapping) authority in Austria? The preferred format for us would be GeoTIFF, as we have existing tools to automate the texture generation in Unity. -What infrastructure would need to be included and how detailed/custom do you need the buildings? For houses we could maybe re-use the ones we also have in our Avianio terrain database and we also have some existing airport assets.

Once we have all the source data, we need approximately two weeks to generate the terrain textures according to Joris. If you want custom infrastructure assets, some additional time may be needed as well for that.

Hi Ivan,

-we prefer to have the main cities (Linz, Innsbruck, Salzburg,..) of the single regions in Austria, in a high-res. -I am trying to contact the responsible authority in Austria. And i will send you the data if i get it. -For Hems mission Training it would be great if we have the following buildings high detailed: Airports, Hospitals, ÖAMTC-bases, Police-bases

I talked with a person from the geodata department in Austria and he gave me the following links to download the data:

https://www.data.gv.at/ -> For whole Austria

https://www.land-oberoesterreich.gv.at/opendata.htm -> for upper austria. At the bottom of website on this link you have the other links for all regions in Austria.

Sorry i am not familiar with this topic. If you can give me more information i could try to help you more.

Thanks Leonhard! It looks like the geodata is indeed public. I forwarded the links you provided to Joris and he will check it out in more detail. If we need more information I will let you know. As for the buildings, I will talk to Mark about it after the holidays in a few weeks to see what is possible and what further information we need to create the necessary assets in D-WORLD.

Your welcome. The guy from the geodata department told me that the big problem is to handle this data. Hope you will find a way. If not i will try to find a person in Austria which can help us. You can ask everytime.
