Connection VTB and NVG Sim #30

Hi Ivan, as you know we want to connect the VTB with the NVG Sim such that we can fly the aircraft with the Controls of the NVG Sim and to have the VTB as the IG.

Hi Ivan, last time we discussed that we will make an appointment on the 09.02.24 with a Guy from the manufacturer of the VTB. But he will not come on the 09.02.. He won´t visit us until the end of February.

Hi Ivan, I wanted to inform you that we are expecting a visit from BOB of Night Readiness, the manufacturer of VTB, sometime towards the end of February.

To ensure smooth integration, I suggest we schedule a remote session to establish the connection between the VTB and the SIM. A specific date and time will follow as soon as we have more information.

Please let me know if this proposal works for you and if you have any further questions.

Hi Leonhard, I discussed this with Martijn last week and he said that we need to define a sensible software/data interface. We think it's best to schedule a short meeting beforehand to discuss this with both you and the developers at BOB. Let me know if/when this would be possible.

Hi Ivan,

The NR PC and the Switch (Port 16) are now connected over ethernet. If you want to make a remote session to configure it just let me know.

By the way: Yesterday i connected the model PC to the internet and i made some Windows updates. Today we tested the sim again and there was no more crashes of the model pc until now. Maybe and hopefully this solved the problem.

Hi Ivan,

just a small update: -Remote access to the NR PC is established. -The Guy from NR said the he will send us everything what is needed either this week or next week. So we should have everything at latest by the end of May. Markus (JFJ) will support us.

Thanks for the update. I talked to Martijn and we need information specifically about the following items to implement the CIGI interface on the D-SIM side:

  1. What version of CIGI is used?
  2. What method of (time) synchronization is used? (e.g., start-of-frame packet, asynchronous, etc.)
  3. What other packets does the VTB expect (e.g., position/attitude seems evident, is there more?)

Also the method currently used to connect the VTB is not ideal, where the VTB is connected to the D-SIM switch. An improvement would be to add an additional network card to one of the D-SIM PC's that will transmit the necessary data to the VTB. We could bring you an extra network card and install it in the summer as well during a visit.

How are you progressing with this topic? Yesterday I asked JFJ and they didn´t got further news. But they still make some pressure on NR.
