Additions for syllabus #38

Hi Ivan,

we already finished the syllabus with the corresponding exercises on the SIM. Now i´m building the scenerys for the exercises. As examples i use the .xml files. And i have some questions:

  1. How can I add lightsources. Like a rotating beacon light?
  2. I would like to model two aerodromes near Linz. Can i just add a sketchup files?

Would be great if you can give some tips. And maybe you can send me some examples.

Hi Leonhard,

  1. I talked to Joris about this. At the moment it is not possible to add a light source/beacon by yourself. We could add something generic to D-WORLD, but it depends on the effect you are looking for on the NVG. Is it supposed to be blinding? Or more similar to a landing light that is visible on the NVG but not distracting? Also to make it rotate would require some logic outside of D-WORLD. This you could potentially do yourself as well.
  2. Yes, if you have sketckup files you can send them to us and we can see if they can be added to the database.

thank you for the answer.

  1. More similar to a landing light, not distracting. Sure i will try to do the logic by myself. In addition would be great if we can add also some street-lights (Lanterns). If it´s possible.
  2. Ok good to know. I try to organize a sketchup file. But this will take a while.
