Anyway, looks like @tmeasday has actually published the package:

Is this package still necessary?

Hi! There is actually a difference between our versions. Mine supports "field.subfield" notation for arrays. I need to double check the code and test it a bit further though.

Ok, an Issues tab would help in any case.

You are right, I have activated it, I would certainly appreciate input on this because I do plan to keep up with this package a bit more.
