seems nobody noticed a lot of links being broken when /dev/, /images/, and /installation/ were moved to /docs/

also small changes to broken links, eg fixing missing file extensions

this definitely needs more thorough review by someone that's more familiar with this, I just saw dead links & fixed what I saw.
