Stories since last visit

Hi all,

Just thought I would put this down as a suggestion. At the moment on the
homepage you can see the top stories today, this week, this month this year. 

I was thinking that a "stories since last visit" would be a beneficial link
(for those of us who have restricted time and just want to see new stuff).
You could also offer the same for upcoming stories. This would give the
visitor a quick way of seeing what has changed (I know you could do
something similar via kick spy).

When a user hits the homepage or upcoming page you could either write the
current latest story id (published and/or upcoming) to either a cookie or
their profile on the db. When they came back if five new stories had been
published these would be visible by clicking on this report (the same for
upcoming stories).

This would give people an additional reason to register as well.

I like this one. I'd go for a new tab next to Top Today/.../Last Year which 
appears
to logged in users only and which shows the stories published to the homepage 
since
their last visit.
