Issues on using two monitors depending of game selected (Linux) #28

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Two monitors working fine and not overlapped on screen
2.Join a Zero-K or NOTA battle
3.Start battle

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Show game screen in favourite (default) monitor.
Game screen is showed extendended, in the two monitors (like if the two
monitors were one with the width of they added)

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
weblobby-r564-linux64.zip
Linux

Please provide any additional information below.
That issue doesn't happen with Battle Annihilation or EvolutionRTS. Those games
run fullscreen in default monitor, not extended.

Note: You can delete issue 19, cause finally is not a NOTA or any game problem.
Is mostly related to the way in which SWL launch Spring engine and parameters
passed.

I added resolution settings in the Settings tab. Please test to see if it
solves the problem.

> not a NOTA or any game problem
Lobbies are not required to specify resolution, therefore games should not rely
on spring getting started with a resolution override. If games can affect it -
and it looks like they can - it's their responsibility to provide sensible
defaults and the means to change them. In an ideal world, that is :)

Sorry, but, I can't found updated version in
https://googledrive.com/host/0Bys6k7VMCRfUZ0N5MGJXR1pRV2M/. Is not there the
new version with the new resolution settings?

:/

The update is completely on the javascript side, so you don't need to update
the binary. Just go to the Settings tab and find Resolution Width and
Resolution Height. If it's not there, restart the program.

Ok. I'll try when I arrive home. I didn't know WL had a part on javascript
that is update via internet when it is launched.

Not worked. Same results.

Find WindowState in engine settings and remove its value if it has one set.
Spring can ignore your resolution settings sometimes, e.g. if you set the
window to fullscreen in your window manager.

Does this still happen with both NOTA and ZK?

Well, I must say that it happened with NOTA too. I even tried NOTA lobby Linux
version and the same problem occurs when playing NOTA games in NOTA lobby BUT
the NL have a workaround in the config, the have a "Windowed" and "Borderless"
option. And it worked!!!

But I must say something more, is that NOTA doesn't penalty at all my CPU,
event in BattleRoom. :(

This happened to me the first time I played with external monitor plugged in.
(I had double height though, so it was respecting my normal set-up.)
Couldn't press super key to escape, and was super laggy (poss unrelated)

Just FYI - recently tried this again and my initial issues did not replicate.
Monitor set-up was fine (I has Weblobby positioned on monitor #2, and spring
started up full-screen on monitor #1, which is pretty much what I wanted it to
do anyway).
