Anachronism Warning #111

Closed AlexWyrmin closed 2 years ago

By the time of Charlemagne, the Jutes had already vanished from the ethnographic map of Europe and their former homeland, the Jutland peninsula, had become culturally Dane one or two centuries prior.

All the cultures I added were finishing the integration of CE. Overall they did a lot of research for what they added but even if something was slightly off I'm fine since in the end I'd rather a more interesting map setup or sometimes things like that are done for gameplay reasons.

AlexWyrmin commented 2 years ago

If that's the case, no problem. I just pointed this anachronism out in the eventuality it had flown under the radar for some reason.

Yea I asked the CE team about it anyway and it seems it's mostly a 'there's barely any sources for that region anyway'. Tribal timeframes are hard to handle given most had no writing systems so all we have is whatever others wrote or whatever we find archeologically.

TheGib770 — Today at 9:43 AM Oh he means historically. There no evidence either way. Jutes tribal names were pretty much never written down except in England. But the Jute clan name was given to Bagsecg so.

[9:51 AM] I found where he got that info [9:51 AM] Some historians believe the jutes were kicked out of juteland because the evidence points to them moving from frisia to kent

Celticus — Today at 9:53 AM thats it? NEW

TheGib770 — Today at 9:54 AM You got to keep in mind that the only sources on the Norse is beowulf, bede, and pissed off Frenchman in that period
