I just uploaded an example (using red grouper) of how to convert Age independent instantaneous mortality rate to an equivalent age specific mortality rate from a lorenzen function based on weight. You can use the same logic to compute the lorenzen based on length as is done in the PVA model.
Stephen, I suggest you have a look at this spreadsheet and convert it as necessary to figure out the parameterization for the gulf sturgeon mortality rates you estimated. This is necessary in order to correctly parameterize the PVA.
It could be done with an age independent function, but making the lorenzen assumption is common, well supported, and presumably you have good information that supports the assumed growth function.
