Merge down crashes the program #358

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Start or open a document.
2. Press shift+n to create a new layer.
3. Open the timeline. 
4. Right click the newly created layer.
5. Select Merge down.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected output is the layer is merged downward. Program crashes instead.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
ASEPRITE Version-0.9.6-beta3 on Windows Vista 32 bit

*Please provide any additional information below. If the program crashed on
Windows, you can attach the aseprite-memory.dmp file generated in the same
location where aseprite.exe is.*
