At what rate do we want characters to progress? What is a good /played time to "max your character"? What does this look like represented as a curve?
My gut feeling is that maxing a character's skills such that they are a "competitive end-game character" (minus loot) should take about 60 hours. Another 60-120 to level up auxiliary skills and crafting. In terms of actual combat time, this might be expressed as 5-10 hours of combat rounds to level up a single combat skill to max. The early levels should be much faster than the later ones - something that looks like 1 hour to 50 then 3 hours to 75 then 6 hours to 100 seems like a good curve to me.
