By utilizing the concept of "implants", we can treat the NWN's mechanical slots of Amulet, Belt, Rings, Gloves, and Boots as implants to a specific "body parts" instead of an actual set of armor. (Leave that to the main torso armor and helmet)
Amulets will be around the neck or heart (for humans anyway) area, think of spinal or heart augments, that allows them to be less susceptible to shocks or reinforced against paralyzing effects.
Belts will be around the waist or pelvis area. Allow it to be either a physical toolbelt that increases carry weight or a boost in skullduggery skills (if that applies)
Rings can be treated as trinkets such as an earpiece or a cybernetic implant that doesn't have to be anywhere near the arms. Allowing the users to be more perceptive, think clearly, react to things faster. It can range from brain implants to eyes to nano-bots injected to purify the blood, etc.
Gloves can be used to augment the fingers and arms. Allow more dexterous feats to be accomplished or hit harder. Maybe even augment Physical Psionic manipulation.
Boots would be the glove equivalent of augments to legs and feet, allow faster movement, more carry weight, or reinforce the skeletal structure to prevent slowing effects.
What implants will be available? How will they be structured?
