So I joined the party :) Now, thread_yield is activated and everything works smoothly. I believe the thread_yield also yields the dispatcher if no other thread is running and probably a bit differently than event_dispatch. However, I didn't investigate this further as it works now. Maybe a question for Friday :)
TODOs for my part:

[x] Change to filesystem server (for fds, and easier syncing)
[ ] Performance evaluation (which is basically writing report)
