Drop support for Python 2 #102

Python 2 will be officially unsupported at the end of the year.

[ ] Flag all 2/3 switch points with a FIXME comment containing “Python 2}
[ ] Final 1.x maintenance release
[ ] Release 2.x with only Python 3 support — probably starting with 3.6+
