Share face labels with multiple users #632

Describe the enhancement you'd like I'd like to share my face labels and the trained model with another user. Or add a setting to share the labels/model with the whole instance.

Describe why this will benefit the LibrePhotos Users that know each other (like a family) have photos of the same people. By adding this feature users do not have to perform duplicate work of labeling faces.

If this is already possible or implemented sorry. But I just noticed that my family members did not have labeled faces in their photos.

This would be a nice feature to have, though having them auto-tagged could catch some people off-guard.

+1

I was actually surprised that this is not the case. I imagined most people who use this create users for family members, so having separate models and face labels was unexpected to me.

I was actually wondering whether to create a separate user for my spouse, or simply share the same user. Given the current functionality of separate models, multiple users for a family is not that usable.

I concur. I initially set things up as a local host because google photos is not family friendly on multiple family users. Not having facial recognition training work across multiple users is a big issue for usability for a family.

Is there an update on this?

That's interesting. In my experience, G photos is the friendliest to families. Facial recognition is on the spot. Recognizes faces in videos as well. It lets us share People album among members and members automatically upload pictures/videos if the face belongs to the shared People album. All members in the shared album may choose to save the media to their own album if they want, otherwise, actual media will only stay in uploader's album. So far none of the options outside of Google photos does all of this.
