Milestones don't work very well:

• I cannot set a fixed date.
• I cannot delete a milestone.

This was probably fixed long time ago. Right now, milestones can be deleted and can be set to a fixed date, both doing drag&drop on the gantt diagram or writing the date in the corresponding box.
