PokerStars VR - Tries to load but doesn't. #1802

Do not report issues when using the Virtual Desktop or ALVR drivers for SteamVR, this is not supported by Revive.

Describe the bug When I try to load the Oculus (PC) version of PokerStars VR, it will show be the "Easy Cheat Engine" splash screen and wait for a while, then the PokerStars VR window appears but is completely blank except for the worlds "trial version" in the bottom right corner. I've let this sit for over an hour and it never fully loads.

About half the time, while the Easy Cheat Engine splash is waiting, it'll also pop up a command dialog with what seems like some Revive injection commands.

In the headset and in SteamVR, the normal small game loading box appears for several seconds, then disappears and nothing else ever happens.

Additional context This worked great about a year and a half ago and then something changed and it stopped working. I use the Oculus PC version because I have game time/money invested in my account (before I knew there was a Steam version) and I like to use SteamVR addons while in game, such as OVR Advanced Toolkit. Since then I kind of gave up getting it working but I've come back to it now.

I've completely removed Oculus PC, Revive, any SteamVR addons, and their respective directories. After that, I reinstalled only Oculus, PokerStars, and Revive.

I've tried the following:

It feels like it's so close to working, just something is off. The fact that the window says "trial version" seems related because I've never seen that before.

Same issue here. I cannot play the game from PC. From Oculus everything works just fine.

Looked at the PokerStars VR discord about the issue, and they said Revive is not supported. Probably they blocked the access on their end. I was able to play via Revive about a year or so ago. Unless we receive any updates on Revive end, it will stay like this.

Well yeah. I would venture to say Revive (and any Steam third party mod/plugin for that matter), isn't officially supported by any commercial software/game. Revive never was and never will be officially supported by any game. I doubt they went out of their way to block it however.

As a matter of fact, I know they use some third party mod for locomotion because it's how they move around to get their group screenshots for promotions. I've had developers of the game tell me in-game as I watched them group together for a group photo before and when asked, they told me they used whatever that one popular locomotion mod is. I forget the name.

Now there was a big update to a lot of VR games like a year or maybe more ago that had something to do with a new overlay driver and you'd fix it in some games by replacing some overlay.dll that was the same in each game. And that's about when PokerStars stopped working.

I'm pretty sure the devs of Revive just haven't gotten around to look at it. But I'm hopeful!

Same here, identical problem everyone is describing, I tried, updating graphics drivers, full reinstallation, many restarts, ensuring only a single screen is running. poker stars runs fun when NOT usining occulus link, but fails to start up when runnign via link, I get as far as the VR logo screen, then it goes blank and closes off goes back to the menu.. havent been able to play for months now via link

Sorry man didn't quite understand...

You're saying you loaded Revive, click on the tray icon, and loaded the game through there?
