Revive apps vanished from SteamVR after installing Microsoft Mixed Reality and OS upgrades #823

After installing Windows 10 Creators Fall Update and Microsoft Mixed Reality all my revive apps vanished from the general Steam app and the Revive Dashboard opens up SteamVR but I do not see the Revive dashboard overlay itself.

Have you tried re-installing Revive?

Micah1 commented 6 years ago

yes I have already deleted Revive and reinstalled it. I am wondering what I should perhaps try to delete and reinstall next, like maybe I should try to delete and reinstall Steam and SteamVR next. Not sure.

It sounds like the Revive Dashboard is just not launched, try starting SteamVR and then starting Revive Dashboard from your Start Menu.

Micah1 commented 6 years ago

So I started SteamVR then Steam, then the Revive Dashboard from the start menu, and when I do it in that order there is zero indication that anything is happening when I start the Revive Dashboard.

CrossVR commented 6 years ago

That is normal, the dashboard is not intended to be started manually, but it should show up in the VR dashboard afterwards.

A future version of Revive will show the dashboard on your desktop monitor if you start it manually.

Micah1 commented 6 years ago

Well I have since uninstalled Steam, SteamVR, and *Revive, and reinstalled all 3, and there is still nothing happening when I open the Revive Dashboard. I mean if SteamVR is closed then opening the Revive Dashboard will open SteamVR, but beyond that there is no hint that Revive is open, no panel, and none of my Oculus Apps are appearing in the Steam window with the other apps like they used to.

I noticed on your forum that another user reported having a transparent or invisible panel that they were able to see once they disabled HDR in color management however I have no such setting on my computer. I guess it is possible that I can't see it because the display drivers changed when I installed Microsoft Mixed Reality. I think tomorrow I will reinstall my Nvidia drivers to see if that provides a solution. It would not totally surprise me if the Revive Dashboard becomes visible after I reinstall my Nvidia display drivers, but I am also looking forward to the future version of Revive that will show the dashboard on my desktop monitor if I start it manually.

The reason I think this might not solve the problem is that if I search the Steam window with my apps it finds nothing for Facebook Spaces or any other Oculus Apps that should be in the Steam Library dashboard. If my apps were there but somehow invisible I think I would get some kind of indication that they were there during a search, but maybe not.

Note *When I reinstalled Revive I used the Beta release that you sent me in the previous message.

Sincerely,

Try going to the SteamVR settings on your desktop monitor, go to the applications tab and make sure Revive Dashboard is enabled. If it still doesn't work, please post your logs from %APPDATA%\Revive (enter it in the WinKey+R dialog). You can just drag and drop those logs in the comment box here to post them.

Just to confirm you're looking for it in the right location, this is the dashboard:
