"Unknown artist" on good releases from artists using non-English characters #326

Open heyhippari opened 6 years ago

Bug Report

System Information/Logs

Lidarr Version: 0.2.0.365

Operating System: Ubuntu 16.04

.net Framework (Windows) or mono (macOS/Linux) Version: Mono 5.10.1.20

Link to Log Files (debug or trace): n/a

Browser (for UI bugs): Firefox 59.0.2

Additional Information

On Japanese artists (For example モーニング娘。), manual search works correctly (REDacted and JPopsuki -through Jackett- both report the correct releases but Lidarr marks them as "Unknown Artist" due to the trackers using either the official English name or a name in the format "English/Romaji version (Japanese characters)".

This makes it essentially impossible to find releases for a lot of Japanese artists.

Edit: This should be valid for every artist that doesn't use roman characters as well.

I've got the same issue with Pennywise for non-FLAC and non-WEB releases. image

I also get this like above on many that are spelt correct with English.

As in @majorpdd 's screenshot, the download button is missing for a lot of my searches. But in my view this is also a design issue in the manual download function, not just a bug with non-English characters.

The manual download function should bypass any and all restrictions and put the decision to the user as to which release from the indexer is correct. The search function is smart enough not to look for an exact match (as music tags can be varied across different indexers, metadata agents etc for the same release) and give a broad range of results but then when one of the results is correct, it can't even be manually downloaded unless it is an exact match. So "Unknown artist" or whatever else shouldn't prevent a manual download otherwise it undermines the point of having a manual download option.

Anyway other than this I'm loving the app so far!

I'm having this same issue and I can't imagine any use case where clidx would be wrong that the manual download button should bipass any and all restrictions.

@roofuskit manual download override has been merged into nightly.

RomLecat commented 4 years ago

The issue also happens when the artist name is in roman characters but the album is not. For instance, Reol (れをる) is properly detected as "Reol" by Lidarr, but the album names are in kanjis (金字塔/Kinjitou) while the name is usually transcripted to romajis characters in most trackers (JpopSuki, Nyaa...).

Is there a way to map Kanjis of artist/album names to romajis so most trackers can map the releases?

Thanks!

v0.8.1.2135

I simply don't seem to see releases on search. But hard to say given there seems to be problems with search returning any results in general.

An example requiring manual import:

Not sure if my issue is related or not. But I've noticed that artist names are being stripped of their dakuten and handakuten, so ポルカドットスティングレイ becomes ホルカトットスティンクレイ and it can't find the artist
