The first page you see when logging in isn't engaging enough, make it more tutorial-like, more interactive, maybe guide the user towards the important aspects of the UI with a first-login-assistant feature.

I like the idea of having an "assistant" feature - little text boxes explaining where to click to find what with a "next" link to explore the interface in 5-10 steps. And for those who havent signed up yet, maybe a 30 second video (I'm working on one for the crowd funding campaign that we could re-use)

The path I thought about today:

Welcome and congratulations: you unlocked your first Achievement. ("Be one of the first beta testers" or "Have an account on life.tl", for instance)
These are some challenges for you. Pick some as your next objectives!
OK, now pick a challenge you're already done recently!
Achievement Unlocked! Now add a picture and a description.
You can be proud of yourself ;) Share it! (facebook, twitter, g+, ...)
This is your profile. Your unlocked achievements are here. Your objectives right there.
This is your timeline. It represents all the rewards you got in your Life. But don't you feel a little bit lonely?
Add some friends to make them part of your adventure!
This is your feed. It helps you see what your friends did. Try to click on an achievement!
Looks amazing right? Add it to your objectives or unlock it as well! Want to help your friend? Approve its achievement. Add a comment like "congratulations, buddy!"
Want to improve your profile? Change your settings. (not sure about this one, sounds boring...)
That's the end of the tour! Add more objectives and achievements - Add more friends - Improve your experience: download the apps!

Of course all the steps are skippable.

Sounds good! Should we also show them where they can challenge their friends? (is there a feature for that yet?)
