have layers like photoshop or pisekll in the layer editor. Just watched a video on a mega tree where 4 candy canes came in from the edges and merged. If you could draw one candy cane, copy it's layer, reposition it and then be able to move the layers in each cell, it would make that type of effect massively easier to do then drawing every pixel on every frame because they are all going in the different directions each frame until they merge.
This would also allow perhaps a shape library and the ability to arbitrarily be able to adjust a drawing in rotation, size, colors etc without affecting other items. E.g. you could start a layer spinning and expanding or shrinking. Perhaps you could do that with macros if there is a blending mode that would just overlay the other letting all background come through in the black areas.
