From what I can see the drop rates of many quest items on Light's Hope are too high. Here are 2 examples:
Gather Rot Blossoms: https://web.archive.org/web/20050117175320/http://wow.allakhazam.com:80/db/item.html?witem=1598 Old allakhazam, seems like a 10% drop rate from both mob types. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mefTlqmWaW4&t=4225s VarrakWoW, 100% drop rate. Through multiple playthroughs I remember having a close to 100% drop rate (possibly 80%) too.
Hostile Takeover: https://web.archive.org/web/20050227011322/http://wow.allakhazam.com:80/db/item.html?witem=4106 Seems like a 15% drop rate on old allakhazam. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t9-p76s-G5k&t=7245s Joana, he needs to grind goblins for nearly 15 minutes to get all 8 Tumbled Crystals. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DzHw8A8-Oy4&t=5600s VarrakWoW, 11 Geologists killed, 8 dropped a Tumbled Crystal. Seems like it's 80% currently.
I remember some of the high droprates to be fixed since the old Nostalrius, for example https://classicdb.ch/?quest=970 which had a 100% drop rate or close to it and now it seems to be 4 or 5% which seems to coincide with old allakhazam and wowhead comments. This is only the case for a small part of quests though, the vast majority seem to have drop rates as they are on https://classicdb.ch and other similar sites which differ greatly from 2004-2006 sources. Also I'm uncertain about the accuracy of old allakhazam since I've heard data from players who weren't on the quest was also recorded.
