Clean up git repo #19

Addresses several points in issue #17

Creates directory for json files
Renames original data directory for consistency in naming
Creates a .gitignore file and adds *.ipynb to ignore jupyter notebooks files

However, I was not able to get the existing .ipynb files ignored without deleting them.

Figured out how to delete cached versions of .ipynb files. They no longer appear in the repo and will not be tracked in the future because the .gitignore file contains *.ipynb
