A helpful tutorial would be on detrending:

rehashing the Series.detrend() docstring, which is pretty complete at this point
illustrating how to use SSA for detrending.
effect of detrending on spectral/wavelet analysis

mostly addressed in d0d05e1 and d22e1d0. I believe we can live without explicitly showing the effect of detrending on spectral/wavelet analysis, though I mention it in the text
