Just totally FWIW but I used to run a fairly busy Mediawiki site nearly 20 years ago for all things related to ALSA and it got a fair bit of traction in its day. Github came along so in 2013 I cobbled together a super simple method of presenting the semi-converted Markdown pages on any PHP powered hosting site I happen to have control of rather than relying on 3rd party providers. Yeah I know, Github is a 3rd party provider but it's so awesome that I can easily overlook that it's proprietary, and it's really just a web gui wrapper around Git itself so whatever is wrapped is still totally free. Anyway, maybe there is something slightly useful that can be gleaned from this old super simple project of mine...
