double square bracket crash #637

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Write a line with double square brackets, then erase one.
2.
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Should erase cleanly. Instead whole program crashes.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
2.5.3.0 x86, Windows 7

Please provide any additional information below.

Could you please provide some extra info?  Provide a sample text and the 
precise action that reproduces the issue.

I tried to reproduce it but I couldn't.

I tried also to reproduce it, but couldn't. However, it happens to me
frequently. I will try to isolate it. It mostly occurs when I create square
brackets and then erase the left-hand one.
